As a mom, homeschooling is one of our best choices for our kids. It gives them a chance to learn in a way that works for them, and it allows us to spend time with them without worrying about where they are or what they’re doing. For many moms, they wonder if they will be able to find the time to do everything that needs to get done along with everyday lessons. Here are some tips on how you can make your days easier as you work through your homeschooling schedule:
Homeschooling is easier than you think.
Homeschooling is a more relaxed environment. You can tailor the curriculum to fit your child’s needs, and you have more time to teach them what interests them. If your child needs more time in a specific subject, you can let them take their time. In this day and age, the one thing I do like about the internet is you can find endless courses and quality videos about a subject that kids can learn from. The most significant part is- you get to pick what’s appropriate for your child.
You’ll be able to spend more time with your children, which will make it easier for them to learn from you and for you both to bond over learning together!
Your kids will socialize and have friends.
Homeschooling gives you the opportunity to teach your child how to have good friendships. When they’re younger, you can schedule time for them with other kids and make sure that they are being taught age-appropriate social skills. As they grow older, extracurricular activities like sports or music can help them develop their social skills. Homeschool-specific choirs and bands are in a lot of areas.
Your family can join a homeschool tutorial or Co-Op with like-minded families. These are great groups that can allow your kids to socialize in smaller group settings and have strict conduct codes, so there is no bullying, etc. It is a great way to supplement their learning at home one or two days a week.
Proverbs 13:20 says, “Spend time with the wise and you will become wise, but the friends of fools will suffer.” Whether you are religious or not, this is wise counsel, and we all have seen this. Your kids will mimic who they hang out with. If they hang out with kids who like Legos, they get excited about legos. If they hang out with kids who hate Legos, they might stop playing with Legos. Not everything is bad. The key is to help your kid as much as possible to find good friends that will help your child, not hinder them.
Children learn better at home.
Children learn better at home. They can grow and flourish in their own environment, where they feel safe and secure. The family unit is an excellent place for learning because it provides the love, support, and encouragement needed for success.
Homeschooling can allow you to teach your child how to be independent and self-sufficient. While some parents worry that their children will not learn these skills if they are homeschooled, this is not the case. You can teach your child how to cook, do their laundry and clean up after themselves. Get all the life lessons they will need in order to make it out in the real world. Some of these lessons can be overlooked if they go to school because of lack of time with your child.
Your family always comes first.
As a homeschool parent, you have the opportunity to teach your kids what they need to know. You can spend more time with them and be a part of their lives in a way that many other parents cannot. Your family should always come first, and if this means homeschooling so that everyone can be happy and mentally healthy, then it’s worth it!
Homeschooling is not only a great way to spend more time with your kids, it’s also an investment in their future.
